7 Inspiring Women You Need To Follow To Boost Your Career

Save This For Later...

Inspiration comes in many forms and I love coming across inspiring women who are doing amazing things to change this world or who simply own who they are and their place in this world and encourage others to do the same too.

While I always have a soft spot for anyone who does anything to build women up (because that’s what we’re all about here at Project Hot Mess) the women on this list range from mega celebrity through to incredible comedians, business owners through to actresses. But the one thing they all have in common is that they are inspiring women you need to follow and doing so will teach you lessons and give you the confidence to boost your career.

1 – Oprah

There is no way this list could ever have been written without including Oprah on it. I remember being a young girl watching Oprah on TV and just sitting in awe, breathing in every word she said. There was something about her message that seemed important, even as a ten year old.

Over the years as I’ve grown and discovered more about this incredible woman, I have realised just how important those words have been. I even remember the first time I read her book ‘What I Know For Sure’ a book I’ve gone on to read many, many times over, especially during the most difficult times in my life.

It’s difficult to put into words this inspiration and impact this woman has – from showing us that you don’t need to be defined by your marital status, your skin colour or your background, through to always being true to who you are, Oprah is inspiring for your life, your career and everything in between.

2 – Carrie Green

Carrie Green is the founder of Female Entrepreneur Association and author of my favourite book for 2017, She Means Business. She endeavours and succeeds in helping women to grow their businesses and create a life they love.

Unlike many other entrepreneurs who teach you how to be an entrepreneur, Carrie doesn’t offer cookie cutter methods or insist on you doing certain things to grow your business. She understands that each business is different and encourages you to find what it is that works for you.

You will be inspired by Carrie to find what else it is in your life that you’re looking for, to own who you are and to be proud and celebrate you.

3 – Anna Kendrick

I love, love, love Anna Kendrick for about a million reasons. Her book, Scrappy Little Nobody (do yourself a favour, get the audiobook version, you won’t regret it!!)  is not only hilarious, but an incredible insight into the dedication and determination it takes to make a career out of acting.

Even at a young age Anna would travel on the train from her home town to New York to audition for parts and work. She worked hard, did all the things people told her she couldn’t do and embraced who she was and what she loved.

If you also happen to follow her on Twitter you’ll see just how much she really owns who she is, something all women should do!

I hate packing.

There are many ways we can find inspiration, but when it comes to your career there are some inspiring women you need to follow to boost your career. From comedians through to fitness queens, these women will inspire you to live the life of your dreams!

4 – Ashy Bines

Okay, this woman is seriously awesome. A fellow Aussie who has just stuck by her mission from day 1, help women fall in love with their bodies and become stronger, healthier versions of themselves.

Ashy started out by creating a Facebook group and selling her workout and eating plan that helped her get her bikini model body. Her popularity exploded, she earned her first million dollars and her business grew faster than she could keep up with.

Which also meant she attracted a lot of haters. It would have been so easy for her to just pack it all up and hide, but she didn’t. She kept going, hiring more people, helping more people. She just kept showing up.

Now she has so many amazing facets to her business, from her gym that has capped membership at a ridiculously cheap rate so she can truly help women, through to her Raw ‘TV Show’ that shows her in all of her ‘normality’ just doing what she does. She keeps things real and sticks to her mission.

WHAT ROLE DO YOU WANT TO PLAY IN THE WORLD? Every morning when we wake we are given a chance to make the world a better place. We actually each have the capacity to enrich the lives of every person we encounter. . Every person we pass in the street we have the potential to influence with a smile or a scowl. Every conversation we have in the workplace can be positive and influential or it can be whiny and negative. Every comment or post we make on Social Media has the potential to lift someone up or tear someone down. . We have immense power when it comes to influencing the world around us, the question is though, are you using yours to grow LOVE or HATE? . The difference in what you say or don’t say could be make or break for someone else. . If you aren’t going to leave the world and the situation better then when you arrived, ask yourself what’s really going on for you in the first place? . The world needs more light and love creators, and I am so glad for each and every one of you in my community who consciously go out there and make the world better each and every day. THANKYOU for being YOU. . On another note how frigin cute is my little man – it’s getting hard to get cute pics together as he’s always on the go ? love matching with him too haha #thatmum #mylittlemancrush ?

5 – Chrissy Teigen

This woman’s sass alone is inspiring. If you have ever seen her reply to some of her trolls on Twitter you’ll know she doesn’t stand for the crap that gets thrown her way and I love it. She also roasts her husband (John Legend) on several occasions which is hilarious.

Not only does she stand up for herself, she also is a major advocate for awareness of Postnatal Depression after suffering through it after the birth of her child.

Chrissy will inspire you to stand up for what you believe in, not let what others say get you down and to not take yourself too seriously.

❤️❤️❤️ laguna!

6 – Iliza Shlesinger

One of the absolute funniest women you will ever come across, Iliza is a stand up comedian who isn’t afraid to tell it how it is. While she makes us laugh so hard we pee a little, she is also a big inspiration when it comes to breaking through the stereotypes that hold women back.

With her observational humour, Iliza keeps it real and makes you feel like all those weird, awkward moments you’ve experienced, others have experienced too! You’re definitely not alone.

Iliza will help you feel strong as a woman, embrace who you are and make you laugh your ass off along the way.

Take care of what matters to you.

7 – Denise Duffield-Thomas

Another Aussie on the list because seriously, reading Denise’s book, Get Rich Lucky Bitch was a massive turning point in my life and I know it has been for many other women too. After reading this book, for the first time ever, I felt like it was okay for me to love money.

A maestro of money mindset, Denise encourages you to get what you want out of life and to actually ask for it. Put it out there, make your dreams your reality and feel good about doing so.

Her biggest lesson she teaches is how to clear your money blocks, something we all have and carry around with us and can prevent us from succeeding in life. She is truly amazing.

What are you doing today to move you forward?
