9 Items You Can Use To Help You Get Organized
Getting organized doesn’t have to be difficult or complicated, especially when you have the right tools to help you get there. You can keep things as simple as you’d like, because that’s what being organized is really all about.
We don’t get organized to add more stress or add more for you to do, we do it because it makes life a little easier.
While I love being organized, I’m also mindful to not buy products that promise to help with organization but only add to the clutter. These items are ones I use to help get organized and stay organized and are actually useful.
1 – Label Maker
For me, I like being able to clearly see what it is I have and where it is supposed to be, so using labels is a big tick.
I really do like to keep things as simple as possible, so labelling jars, folders, boxes, shelves or anything that needs a label can really help me keep track of everything and keep everything in its place.
What you label and how you label it is up to you and it might take a little trial and error to figure out what works for you. The best place to start is always the pantry – there are so many things to label and organize in there!
When it comes to label makers, you can’t go past a Dymo. This is the one my husband uses here.
I personally prefer to use my Cricut to label my containers. I have the Explore Air 2 and absolutely love it.
When I purchased it my husband said offhandedly that he didn’t think it would be used much (classic husband). When I used it to make stickers for his car he was very grateful and said he’d never question it again! Winning.
2 – Printable Planners
If you know me at all, you’ll know I love lists, planners, to-do lists… anything that helps me feel more in control and more organized. I love them so much I created over 370 planning pages to help me get my life organized.
Why do I like printable planners? Because you can customize them to create the perfect planner for you!!
I’ve created a ton of printable planners to help you get your life organized, including these Daily Planning Pages:
3 – Binders
I have various ways of creating my planners, and one of them is using binders.
While binders are great for planners, they’re also great for organizing any important paperwork you have, for storing kids artwork (so much artwork) and keeping track of anything that could end up being paper clutter.
To make things easier, I like color coding my binders, the brighter the colors the better. These colorful binders are nice and bright, and this binder is really pretty.
4 – Dry Erase Board
When you’re trying to keep track of everything that’s happening with a family, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and miss things. That’s why we love our dry-erase board.
Any important events, notes to each other or things we think of are written on this board. It makes life SO MUCH easier.
My husband and I work shift work and on-call so we can go days without having an actual conversation with each other, and we spend equal time organizing and looking after the kids, so we often write little notes to each other and keep track of notes here.
I like this glass one because it looks much nicer than a simple dry-erase board and is just simple and minimalist too.
5 – Glass Storage Jars
The pantry is honestly one of the easiest areas in the house to be cluttered and chaotic (mine was) but also one of the easiest to organize.
Using glass storage jars to store your food can help you keep your food fresher for longer, it looks good and it means you can clearly see what it is you have too!
I love that these ones come with labels you can reuse (I like adding use-by dates to them as well) and they look super cute in your pantry too.
6 – Glass Food Storage Containers
Move over Tupperware, these glass storage containers are BPA free and can be used in the oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. What more could you need?
I use these to keep our leftovers and to store meals in advance so I don’t have to cook every night (because who wants to do that?).
If you like meal prepping and having different food stored in one container, then these bento-style glass containers are the way to go.
7 – Bamboo Storage Box
These sustainable bamboo storage boxes are great for helping you keep difficult areas organized.
I use them for my underwear (so much easier to store them), for my makeup and skincare in my bathroom, and to keep all of my work bits and pieces together (ID badge, pens, notebooks etc).
8 – Charging Station
We have more electronic devices than I’d care to admit, and I was so sick of having chargers and devices all over the house, charging in different rooms. Don’t even get me started on the frustration of having to hunt down the right charging cable when you needed it.
So we decided to get one of these charging stations and have a set charging zone in our pantry. It’s so good. No need to look for cables, all the devices are in one spot and it’s so much neater and far tidier.
9 – Magnetic Grocery List
You know that frustration when you get to the grocery store and you can’t remember what you need? Or even worse, when you get home from grocery shopping only to realize you’ve run out of even more items you need?
I mega loathe grocery shopping at the best of times, so to make things easier we use a magnetic grocery list. I printed my own from my planners, and added a magnet to the back, but you could use one of these if you wanted.
Whenever we use the last of an item, we write it on the list so we know to get it with our next grocery shop. Seriously makes life so much easier.
Some items that are meant to help you stay organized just add more clutter, but these ones really do work and they help you make life a little easier.
Getting organized doesn’t have to be difficult, you can make it as simple as you’d like.
