7 Books That Will Make You A Better Person

Save This For Later...

Books can be powerful, they can inspire, motivate and make you a better person.

A far cry from the old ways of hiding your face when browsing the ‘self help’ section of the bookstore, self improvement books are now commonplace.

These books will make you a better person and motivate you to look at your life in a different way.

1 – 4 Hour Work Week – Tim Ferris

Find this book on Amazon – 4 Hour Work Week

At first, I thought ‘The 4-Hour Work Week’ by Tim Ferris was just for entrepreneurs, but as I read it, I realized there’s an important message in there for everyone.

The book challenges us to question why we work so hard doing the things we do and wait until retirement to enjoy life.

While the book may not be attainable for everyone to outsource every aspect of their life as Tim suggests, there are definitely takeaways that apply to all of us.

Maybe you can’t outsource your entire life, but you could consider outsourcing certain tasks, like cleaning or meal prep, to free up your time and improve your quality of life.

What I appreciate about this book is that it encourages us to think outside the box and challenge the status quo.

It reminds us that we don’t have to live our lives on someone else’s terms, and that we have the power to create the life we truly want.

Overall, ‘The 4-Hour Work Week’ is a thought-provoking read that will inspire you to rethink the way you approach work and life.

It’s not just for entrepreneurs – it’s for anyone who wants to refocus their time and create a happier, more fulfilling life.

My Key Takeaway – Ask yourself what is important in your life and if you can make any changes to create a life where you get to focus more on the important things.

2 – Year of Yes – Shonda Rhimes

Find this book on Amazon – Year of Yes – Shonda Rhimes

Have you fallen into the habit of saying no to every invitation because you’re just too busy?

Feel like the fun in your life is coming second to the constant battle of keeping up with work?

Then this is the book for you!

Let’s face it, we’ve all been there. We get so caught up in our day-to-day routines that we forget to have fun and enjoy life. It’s easy to fall into the habit of saying no to everything because we’re too busy, too tired, or too stressed out.

But what if we said yes instead? That’s exactly what Shonda did for a whole year and she shares her experience in this inspiring book. Spoiler alert – it was awesome!

As the title suggests, Shonda spent a whole year saying yes to invitations she would have previously said no to and she shares the effect it had on her life.

By saying yes to invitations she would have previously turned down, Shonda opened up a whole new world of possibilities. She discovered new passions, made new friends, and learned to embrace life in a whole new way.

So, are you ready to say yes to more things in your life? Here are some tips from the book that might help you get started:

  1. Start small – say yes to something you would normally say no to, like going for a walk or trying a new restaurant.
  2. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone – saying yes to new experiences can be scary, but it can also be incredibly rewarding.
  3. Remember that it’s okay to say no – the point of the book is not to say yes to everything, but rather to be open to new opportunities.
  4. Have fun! – saying yes should be a way to add more joy and excitement to your life, so make sure you’re doing things that make you happy.

My Key Takeaway – Take a moment before responding ‘no’ straight away. Oftentimes I’ll say ‘no’ out of habit. Taking a moment before responding allows me to really think about the question being asked.

This is an interesting collection of titles. For me, I would have to include the Bible. If you are ever looking for wisdom, the book of Proverbs is so full of wise sayings to live by.

Good point Gretchen - I understand for a lot of people the Bible would be a book to look towards.
